Cooperation with International Organisations

Atomenergoprom’s international activities are aimed at completing the main tasks of developing the nuclear industry in Russia, increasing economic efficiency and nuclear safety of the industry enterprises. It implies constructive interaction with international nuclear organizations, such as the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), the World Nuclear Association (WNA), World Association of Nuclear Operators (WANO). In particular, the cooperation of the company’s subsidiary, Rosenergoatom Concern, with WANO allows to continuously increase the level of safety of NPPs in Russia.

International activity covers cooperation in accordance with intergovernmental agreements, as well direct agreements with foreign enterprises and organizations. For example, Uranium Holding ARMZ expands cooperation with foreign partners for the development of uranium deposits: an uranium production joint venture has been created in Kazakhstan, similar ventures are planned in Canada, Armenia, Mongolia, the Republic of South Africa. Atomenergoprom participates in the delivery of intergovernmental agreement on the development of International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor (ITER). In particular, a facility for the manufacturing of superconducting materials is being built at Chepetsky Mechanical Plant under ITER agreement.

AEP also interacts with a number of foreign partners, thus carrying out a policy of broadening cooperative collaboration in the world nuclear industry. For example, a framework partnership agreement was concluded with Toshiba Corporation.

Finally, Atomenergoprom subsidiaries actively participate in international tenders for NPP construction abroad, fuel supplies for nuclear power plants in the countries of Eastern and Western Europe, process equipment supplies, etc.

We are prepared to develop cooperation with foreign countries virtually in all areas of the nuclear fuel cycle. In the first place, in increasing uranium reserve base and power machine engineering development. There are plans to acquire foreign assets and create joint ventures with leading foreign partners. An example of such international production cooperation is the joint venture for manufacturing slow-speed turbines with the Alstom.
