Nuclear technologies make positive impact to the humans’ quality of life. At present, the product portfolio of the Russian nuclear sector consists of not only of traditional solutions in the field of nuclear power but also of new areas such as nuclear medicine, nuclear research and technology centers based on research reactors, radiation processing facilities etc. Besides, Atomenergoprom develops its businesses in related sectors: wind power, nuclear medicine, composite materials, additive manufacturing, digital products, infrastructure solutions for towns and cities, etc.

It is necessary to note that the construction of nuclear power plant (NPP) and its further operations significantly contribute to the development of the economy and infrastructure of the country, both for the Russian Federation and foreign customer-countries, while ensuring long-term sustainable work-load of high-technology production, orders for allied sectors and creation of jobs with a corresponding contribution to GDP from the industry profits and taxes. NPP construction and operation create jobs for several thousand people at the plant itself and the nuclear infrastructure.

In general, Atomenergoprom’s activities contribute to all 17 SDGs. However, given the scale of influence and features of the Company’s activities, the key goals are the following: No. 7 (“Affordable and Clean Energy”), No. 8 (“Decent Work and Economic Growth”), No. 9 (“Industry, Innovations and Infrastructure”), No. 12 (“Responsible Construction and Production”), No. 13 (“Climate Action”) and No. 17 (“Partnership to Achieve the Goal”).

№7

NPP ensures stable generation of low carbon electricity for the past 60 years. Atomenergoprom contributes to zero-carbon energy generation, together with the development of solutions in the wind power segment.

№8

Construction and operation of two-unit NPP provide more that 10,000 jobs in the area of nuclear infrastructure and create more than 3,000 new jobs at NPP itself. Each US dollar invested in a NPP construction project brings, on average, US $4,3 to GDP to the host country and, on average, US $1.4 to the host country’s budget as taxes.

№9

NPP construction and operation provides the development of related infrastructure, basic and applied science and local personnel training system.

№12

In its production processes Atomenergoprom seeks to build a “sustainable” chain of supplies. The Company adopted Production System (RPS) aimed at the lean production culture. The quality management system has been introduced; international standards ISO 9001, ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001 are applied.

The NPP construction and operation projects pay special attention to the management of spent nuclear fuel, products of its processing and radioactive waste management and decommissioning of facilities posing nuclear and radiation Hazards

The Atomenergoprom’s activity in managing the waste is aimed at strengthening environmental safety and preservation of the environment.

№13

Electricity generation at NPPs is one of sources of low-carbon energy and thus contributes significantly to global energy transition.

№17

The sustainable development agenda is actively worked discussed at various international events including the IAEA and World Nuclear Association (WNA) conferences. Atomenergoprom’s enterprises are active participants of the dialogue on sustainable development at the World Energy Council etc.
